1 GENERAL INFORMATION

Alco Holdings Limited (the “Company”) is a limited liability company incorporated in Bermuda. The
address of its registered office is Clarendon House, 2 Church Street, Hamilton HM11, Bermuda. The
Company is listed on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

During the year ended 31st March 2015, the Company and its subsidiaries (together, the “Group”) are
engaged in designing, manufacturing and selling of consumer electronic products.

These consolidated financial statements are presented in thousands of units of Hong Kong dollars
(“HK$’000”), unless otherwise stated. These consolidated financial statements have been approved for
issue by the Board of Directors on 25th June 2015.

2 SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES

The principal accounting policies applied in the preparation of these consolidated financial statements
are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless
otherwise stated.

2.1 Basis of preparation

The consolidated financial statements of the Company have been prepared in accordance with
Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (“HKFRS”) issued by the Hong Kong Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (“HKICPA”) and the disclosure requirements of Appendix 16 to the
Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and the
Hong Kong Companies Ordinance. The consolidated financial statements have been prepared
under the historical cost convention, as modified by the revaluation of investment properties which
are carried at fair value.

The consolidated financial statements are prepared in accordance with the applicable requirements
of the predecessor Companies Ordinance (Cap.32) for this financial year and the comparative
period.

The preparation of consolidated financial statements in conformity with HKFRS requires the use
of certain critical accounting estimates. It also requires management to exercise its judgement
in the process of applying the Group’s accounting policies. The areas involving a higher degree
of judgement or complexity, or areas where assumptions and estimates are significant to the
consolidated financial statements, are disclosed in Note 4.
